In this age division, we continue to focus on teaching the basic skills of softball. The first couple of weeks may have the girls batting with the use of a tee, but coaches mostly pitch to the girls. Throwing, catching and fielding will be taught along with team sportsmanship. The time commitment with this age group is usually a 1 hour practice during the week and a 60-90 minute game on Saturday mornings. This is a non-competitive league, where the teams usually practice on their own and play scrimmage games against other teams within their division. Coaches are on the field to assist the girls. The most important factor is for the girls to have fun and learn more about playing softball. If a girl has played in this division for two years as a 7 & 8 year old, we may want to move her to the Intro-Pitch League. We end the season with a skills competition.
